Joshua Cucjen – Director
Josh Cucjen attended KBC for a year in 2008 and afterwards felt God telling him that he would be coming back to Kauai in the future. In 2012, he was hired on as the Registrar. In 2015, he took on the role of Director. He is married to Jewel Cucjen and together they have two daughters, Ellinor and Elaine. Josh’s vision is to facilitate the growth of relationships with God for all of the students who attend KBC.
Allison Clawson – Registrar and Worship Leader
Originally from Minnesota, Allison attended KBC as a student in the spring of 2015, then returned home. When she heard of a need for a worship leader and Registrar at the college the following semester, she felt called to come back to Kauai and fill those positions, along with being the worship leader for Crossroads Christian Fellowship. Allison teaches the worship class at KBC and loves seeing her students grow in skill and understanding of the heart behind worship and what it really means. Her vision for the students is for them to grow in their personal relationship with the Lord and learn how to be disciple-makers.
Jonathan Hoffman – Dean of Students/Property Manager
Jon first came to KBC as a student in 2011 and was hired on as staff for PCS Manager and Property Manager. After almost a two year break as an intern in Colorado, he returned to KBC with Grace Hoffman, his wife. Jon’s vision for KBC is to help disciple students through hands-on experience and training at the college.
Preston Hood – Dean of Men
Preston is from Chattanooga, Tennessee, and graduated from Kauai Bible College in December 2016. He has a heart for serving the people around him and for making disciples of Jesus Christ. In his free time he enjoys spending time with the guys and playing soccer, ping pong, hacky sack, spikeball, and plungerball.
Gracia Stark – Dean of Women
Gracia is from Denver, Colorado and grew up in Mexico, as her family were missionaries down there. She came out as a student for the 2015-2016 school year. In Spring of 2016 she was called to come back and partner with KBC in discipling and training the students and then was hired as Dean of Women in Fall of 2016. Her desire is to see the students grow in their knowledge and love for God and gain a firm foundation in the gospel that they can use to go and make more disciples of Jesus Christ.
Jessie Jacoby- Assistant Dean of Women
Jessie attended Kauai Bible College for one year and fell in love with the island and the family she made at KBC. After a semester off, Jessie came back to fill the role of Assistant Dean of Women. Her goal for the students is for them to understand the gospel, to be able to share that message with others fearlessly, and for students’ love for Christ to be renewed and strengthened during their time at KBC.
Mathew Lowe – Assistant Property Manager
Mat is from Denver, Colorado. He first attended Kauai Bible College in the Fall of 2015. Due to the life changing experience and love for the college, he came back the Spring semester of 2016 as both a staff member and student studying God’s Word, while giving back to the college as the Maintenance Supervisor. He loves God’s Word, the island, and the entire diverse family Kauai Bible College has to offer. One of his main goals is to see students have the same life changing experience and grow in their walk with God as he did his first semester.
Emily Cucjen – Office Administrator
Emily first moved from California with her family as missionaries to a small town in Mexico. Hearing about Kauai Bible College from her brother, Josh Cucjen, she embarked on what she thought would only be a semester long stay at KBC. Emily first came out to Kauai as a student in the Fall of 2015. After staying longer than expected and completing her first year here, she decided to stay out on the island, volunteering for the college for a semester. The position as Assistant to the Director opened up and was offered to her for the following Spring 2017. She is now the office administrator, and feels called to be out here at KBC discipling the students and raising up more men and women for Christ.
Jake Brinkman – Academic Dean
Originally from Wisconsin, Jake attended KBC as a student beginning with the Fall 2016 semester. After completing the first year program, he has returned on staff as the Academic Dean. Prior to coming out to Kauai, Jake had been engaged in the mission field for the previous three years, but is now excited to be in ministry at KBC. Jake enjoys playing guitar, reading, working in his garden, and studying the Bible. He hopes to be able to unlock and instill a passion and love for learning about God and His word into the students’ lives.
Ben Clawson – Assistant Property Manager
Ben Clawson, originally from Minnesota, came out to KBC as a Media Intern in 2011. He has been on staff with the school in 2012, 2014 – 2015. In 2015 he met the woman of his dreams, Rhianna, and they were married Fall of 2016. has come back to staff in 2017 as Assistant to the PCS Director. Ben greatly admires KBC, the church, and the impact that discipleship has made on him personally as well as the students that come each semester. The Friendly Nerd, Ben likes Star Wars, fantasy, Legos, and gaming.
After absolutely loving the two semesters at Kauai Bible College that Rhianna took as a student, she moved back to her hometown Vanderhoof, British Columbia, and believed that was the end of her adventures at the college. But after marrying Ben (whom she met at KBC) and moving out to Minnesota, they both realized the Lord was not done with their time there and desired both of them to serve in ministry there again, this time while being on staff. Rhianna loves the island life and the transforming work the Lord does in the hearts of the students semester by semester and she’s excited about serving and contributing to this amazing work of God.
Emily Curry – Kitchen Administrator
Emily visited Kauai in spring of 2017, and loved it so much that she moved from her home state of New Hampshire to work at KBC as the kitchen administrator. She loves to cook and bake, so the job and locations seemed pretty great! She has felt the call for a long time to dig deeper into God’s word and really learn how to love others and share Jesus’s love with them. In her time at KBC, she hopes to encourage students through joy, laughter, and cooking!
Bethany Clawson – Assistant Kitchen Administrator
Bethany was raised in the great northern state, Minnesota, with her four sisters and her one older brother! Ever since Bethany was young, she’s had a longing for the Lord, His people, and serving and blessing them for His kingdom. She loves to encourage and bring joy to people in any circumstances, and loves to be expressive especially in the area of speaking about God’s goodness, wisdom, and love. She would rather be outside or writing, rather than inside watching a movie. Bethany enjoys Lindy Hop, tea, spending time with her family, and talking with her close friends. Bethany came out to KBC first in 2015 as a student, with the Lord tugging on her heart to come back out to the community after she had left. God’s provision came through strong, giving her an opportunity to give back to the college, and brought her passion for health and insight on the temple of the Lord.
Caleb is studying evangelism and discipleship at Moody Bible College, and is filling the role of KBC’s Assistant Dean of Men as part of his internship at Moody. He is trained as an EMT and is also a mechanic. After finishing school, he plans to be involved in camp ministry or college ministry. Caleb enjoys motorcycling, alligator wrestling, bull riding, cliff jumping, and anything else that is adrenaline-inducing.
